An explosion in an industrial plant, people fainting in the middle of a major event, an abandoned suitcase in the airport or a military operation in a conflict area - hazardous situations may occur suddenly. But how grave is the situation and what exactly is happening?
Prompt information retrieval is paramount in emergencies. The conditions in the affected area, accessibility, and the extent of protection in which action forces and relief units require are significant. Intelligent robotics provides the critical information – unbiased, fast, and more precise.
The modular reconnaissance robot ASENDRO SCOUT enables e. g. police forces to evaluate a situation in uncertain conditions from a safe distance. It can be used to assume reconnaissance and defusing tasks and protects relief units and action forces in hazardous situations. Revolving and pivoting propulsion ensures movements of the camera head of up to 350 (degree). By means of the integrated wide-angle colour and thermal image camera, the control room can be optimally informed about events on location - at all times and under any weather conditions. DISTANCE is the only protection for emergency services and the population if an explosive device is found anywhere or if a bomb threat is received.
ASENDRO SCOUT navigates autonomously or alternatively, controlled by radio remote control. The flexible chain drive guarantees the robot's mobility on virtually any indoor and outdoor surface, including climbing stairs and negotiating obstacles. The robot's small dimensions also allow operation in narrow spaces such as buses, trains or planes.
Platform
Dimensions: Approx. 60 cm x 40 cm x 40 cm without payload module (suited for use in bus, train or plane)
Platform weight: 45 kg (incl. rechargeable battery)
Robot total weight: 65 kg (incl. payload module and rechargeable battery)
Drive system: Electric motors: 2 x 500 W (Drive); 2 x 80 W (Rockers)
Power supply: 24V/27Ah rechargeable batteries. All batteries can be replaced in less than 1 minute. (recharge time 4 h)
Operating time: Approx. 4 hours in mixed operation
Speed: Precise slow movement, max. speed: 10 kmh
Temperature range: –20° C (–4° F) to +50° C (122° F); Storing > 0° C (32° F)
System mobility: Chain drive with adjustable rockers. Operates on firm as well as relatively soft surfaces, climbs stairs and ramps up to 45°, overcomes obstacles with a height of 15 to 20 cm, vehicle turns on the spot.
Operating range: Up to 2,000 mtr (line of sight) by radio remote control. Optional use of a 200 mtr optical-fiber cable reel (extendable to 500 mtr).
Communication: Video and data telemetry at 2.4 GHz; high-security data radio at 433 MHz (Network WLAN/GSM/GPRS/UMTS-cellular radio) front motion camera, rear motion camera (White, high-power LEDs, ring-type arrangement around each camera).
Environmental influences: Completely sealed system, without free cables for „all weather“ employment
Electronic: On-board electronic covers mobile Transmeta® PC, 256 MB SDRAM, compact flash storage, PCMCIA slots, motors controller, AD/DA-Card, accelerometer, inklinometer, GPS receiver.
Payload module
Camera head: Three primary degrees of freedom: View height 1000 mm (100 % driven out). Rotary and vane drives make movements of the head possible , up to 350° for swivelling are possible
Distance sensor: A distance sensor in the head provides extended operational
ways of identification for obstacle detection – and by-pass (up to 10 m)
Automatic neutral position: In the neutral position the head is mechanically placed in an adjustment device. The control drive of the head activates automatically the adjustment and/or release.
Motion camera: Wide angle color camera (CCD camera, 0.7 Lux, 18 x opt.
Zoom shot) with movement recognition; Thermal came- ra (7–14mm; Objectiv Wide angle FOV 50° x 35°) for driving into low light or in complete darkness.
